Raven who? 49% off what?

Dolls,

I decided today I deserved a little splurging.  Being surrounded by thousands of dollars worth of bags daily at work is bound to have that effect.  I survived 3 weeks, don’t I get a gold star or something?  Luckily, I had enough self control to resist the Coach store, although I was tempted.  I keep debating buying our ridiculously cheap leather gloves..

But each time I go into work I get distracted by something bigger and better.  I was never a coach obsessor, although I own some bags.  I adore the multi purpose tote as of recent (fancy wording for a diaper bag, judge me.) as well as EVERYTHING legacy.

It’s never going out of style.  It’s like chocolate, the deep brown sweet bag just sucks you in.. You feel guilty, but like heaven at the same time.

At least the guilt is the result of the price tag instead of calorie count.

I didn’t cave though!  I left the store after my mini shift, and wandered the mall.

The douche Michael Kors associate pointed out the fact I was eye balling the Hamiltons in my obvious Coach uniform and killed my vibe.

I’m now not purchasing that bag due to hipster wanna be.  He probably could have really used the commission to buy a real outfit too </3 shame.

#sorrynotsorry

Did I mention customer service is a h-you-geeeee deal to me?  It is.  I dunno if it’s because I worked/work retail, or if I just have exceedingly high standards for anything I spend my hard earned money on (even my tax money, which is why I hate that people live off the system.. but that’s another story).

Like LOFT? I typically adore!  But the service was off today, and guess who had a coupon and still walked out empty handed?  All this gushing about missed purchases probably leads you to believe I left the mall bag-less, but not a change.

Don’t worry, it’s still Allison blogging after all.

I’m not sure if it was the anger from the lack of service or just a rebel moment, but I felt the need to buy a graphic tunic from Love Culture.  The brand is essentially a Forever 21 wanna be, but hoochie-er.  If you hunt, they do have cute stuff.

The shirt said “Look like a girl, act like a lady, think like a man, work like a boss.”

Not to preppy, agreed. But do you know how hot I’m going to look at aerobics tomorrow? The back of the top is cut out, perfect to high light my bright blue sports bra.. matched with crop leggings and sneaks I think its possible I just made exercise attire cute. *gasp*

I also bought brown leather-wanna-be flats for work (shhh, don’t tell my boss they’re fake..) and a matching braided belt.  My feet were about to give out, or demand a pedicure, so I took the more cost effective approach and also made an appearance at Aldo where I picked up some machine washable foamy shoe inserts.

Aldo had the CUTEST loafers.

ImageThat suede would fall victim to harsh New York winters though.  I did not want to see them suffer in the salt, I couldn’t buy them.

I did buy another shirt from Rue 21, lace with a pearl and rhinestone studded collar.  These cheap stores aren’t my usual, but I was feeling thrifty and when you did I feel like a learned eye can find a diamond in the rough.

So, that’s how I spent my Super Bowl Sunday.  Raven who? 49% off what?

PS: The commercials I saw weren’t all that great either.

Politics and Fashion

Darlings,

I want to buy evvvvverything. It’s slightly problematic, considering I don’t have a job or a budget that allows for that.  Sweaters and leggings are the usual thing here in the CHILLY gross NY winter. I heard earlier it’s going to be 65 on sunday though, how is a girl to prepare for these weather bursts?! My capris are home and I have returned almost anything light weight or sheer. I’ve decided I have a problem with deciding what to wear in the morning. it’s the overwhelming desire to wear something I haven’t worn before (but I can’t wear something completely different every day) or at least the same way I did originally. I’m running out of options on a college student budget.. Thankfully,  Christmas is right around the corner! And I put in a job application for a leadership position on campus and got an interview!! So hopefully the no job deal will end ASAP.  If I ran into a pile of cash the first things I would buy are on Ann Taylor.

The freshman 15 has blessed me with a few more curves (WAH) and I am enjoying clothing made for women a lot more than juniors lately. My newly double digit physique adore Ponte Leggings and their Modern Skinny dark wash jeans. I highly recommend them to anyone that was not given the gift of a pencil thin body. Heck, I even recommend them to the girls that were. I think these HIGH QUALITY THICK FABRIC leggings could make a girl with loads of cellulite and layers of love on her thighs (; look heavenly.

Leggings CAN be worn as pants if worn appropriately and of the proper material make up.

Tights on the other hand? *shudder* PLEASE ladies. Pass this on, like a public service announcement.. nobody should see that! A dress is supposed to cover that region that is SHEER ON TIGHTS.

Anyways, maybe thats just a Canisius College girl problem. I doubt it though.

Canisius College doesn’t have that many problems though, like next friday? I’m meeting a bunch of Communications Alum. What on opportunity ! I’m reaaaaally hoping that someone has a fashion background or job related so that I can reaffirm the reason I am in this major.  Lately journalism sounds like a plausible switch, but I’m not sure.

I submit my new schedule Saturday at 9 am (which should be illegal) along with most of the sophomores on campus and I am trying to sign up for the following classes:

Religious Studies, Philosophy, Writing about Lit, Travel Photography, Keyboard Musicianship, Comparative Govt & Politics, Math & Politics, E-commerce & Web design, Communication Theory, Mass Comm, and Writing for the Public Media.

Don’t worry, only 5 of those classes.. I just had to make a back up schedule in case I don’t get my top choices.

Speaking of Politics though, what did you all think of the election results the other night? I know I’m probably late to ask opinions, but boy did I have some… I blasted them ALL OVER TWITTER. Which is probably something I should work on, but I really didn’t care.

I’m not an Obama supporter, I was routing for Romney the other night.. A disgrace to my state I know. Whatever. I wasn’t shocked at the polls results, I didn’t vote myself.

EVEN THOUGH I’M 18.

Which I know is also probably a disgrace.

But in the ALWAYS democratic state of NY, what difference would it have really made? I know thats an awful attitude, but really what does my vote matter if I’m not in a swing state? It’s depressing if you think about it.

My Grandma, pres of League of Women’s Voters and all that Jazz would probably be incredibly depressed if I revealed to her that I didn’t vote. I’m really politically interested, though! So I might pick up a political minor.

I’m even taking a class on Woman’s suffrage right now..

I’m feeling shame.

It’s just I was moving! And I pre-registered to my old address and didn’t know where I was going to school back in April (check my blog, I swear!) so I never got an absentee ballot.

I wish I did..

Although the popular vote? That seems not to matter all that much. Romney was leading with that for a while, and the electoral college is obviously what matters so whatever.

I don’t like the electoral college personally.

And why is weed becoming legal in Colorado? And medical mary jane in Massachusetts? What’s happening to our country?

I don’t know much about drugs, but I think people should focus on more pressing issues like digging this economy out of such a hole IN OTHER WAYS. Like saving instead of spending?

I mean it works with shopping. Congress needs to realize spending money that you don’t have never ends well.

After all, I want a job. But you don’t see me opening a credit card and going hay wire no matter how tempting..

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder..

What a load of crap.

I just went FIVE days without blogging to all of you wonderful preppies out their and I’m not fond, I’m mad. I feel like a part of me was missing. Now I have to play catch up, and I REFUSE to leave anything out. Like this morning? Shaving my legs? Cut my finger nail. You probably wouldn’t feel the same if you didn’t know that now would you.

ANYWAYS.

Saturday- Oh em geeee! Winter ball was really fun! Kevin came over around 4:30, then we took pictures at Olivia’s, went to the dance, and thennnn I went to Applebees with the girls after. It was fun. Here is visual proof:

I ALMOST FORGOT.

I wouldn’t be doing my duty as a shopaholic if I didn’t inform you of my mall visit that morning. I bought tan oxfords and a pair of black stilletos. FIVE DOLLARS A PAIR AT JCPENNEYS. I laced the oxfords with black sheer ribbon instead. They are so cute -now-, words cannot describe. I’m obviously wearing them in Georgia.

Sunday- I had to work. It was painful. Combined with a shit load of homework? I could have done with a very different sunday. But I survived. OH. A lady threatened my life over a box of brownie mix. The price came up wrong on the register. I think that was sunday.. reguardless. It was terrifying.

Monday?: Monday was a blurr. Like all mondays I didn’t want to wake up for my 8 oclock class. I had a quiz? I aced it. I honestly don’t remember much, I can’t even remember what I wore </3.

TUESDAY: I looked good. I remember my smashing outfit.

Without the black tights, this was what I wore -with my black 5 dollar stilletos-. GUESS WHERE IT WAS FROM?

Oh. GUESS HOW MUCH IT COST?

I bet you were wrong.

🙂 🙂 🙂

FOUR DOLLARS. K-MART.

Do you know how many compliments I got on that 9 dollar outfit? I don’t thrive on compliments, far from it. But life is a little better when you know you look hotter than the girl that burned 40 dollars on a top that says HOLLISTER with no fashion ties whatsoever for a quarter of the price.

And Tuesday was “senior skipday” but I still went to school, like a good girl. And those seniors missed out on a hell of an outfit if I do say so myself.

WEDNESDAY: Today! It was acceptable. I wore light skinnies from H&M, black booties (in the afternoon, sequined UGGs when I didn’t pay attention to the weather in the morning), a purple tank top with matching purple feather earrings under my totally cute shirt I also got for a steal on my shopping journey.

My shirt has cuter cursive type, but naturally I rocked it.

I should be packing for Georgia, or studying for my Textiles test tomorrow, but I missed you all SOOOOOOO much. If I fail tomorrow? Expect full blame. My bed is covered in clothes, and my notes are scattered everywhere.. but it’s almost friday, so I am content.

Oh, and wear cute pajamas tonight. You never know who you’ll see in your dreams ;).

Xoxo,

Allison
