The Third Street Art Alley

Last Tuesday, my friend Jess (owner of Main Street Printing Company) and I decided to explore the Third Street Art Alley in downtown Niagara Falls. The bright colors and impressive artwork seemed like the perfect backdrop for a photo shoot.

I had just received 3 new Tobi tops in the mail and was thrilled to be able to showcase these looks in such a fun environment. I did my best to ignore the baby sized snow piles and 40 degree weather. New clothes and new places always make my think of spring!

This first top is the Back to Back Black and White Striped Tee. It’s a simple 3/4 top and I love the hint of nautical style that it provides.

Like blogger The College Prepster, Carly, said in one of her latest posts, “There is not one striped shirt in my closet… there are many”. You can’t go wrong with them, they’re classic! And I am happy to add this one to my collection. The material is a cotton and spandex blend, not too clingy and quite flattering.

Previously on my blog I’ve posted about my love for versatile pieces; I believe this Tobi top is a great example. In the warmer weather I will pair it with a pair of coral or white shorts, but it also works really well with any pair of jeans.

Next up, I styled my new Tobi Twist Around Top. I can’t come up with a better way to describe this heather grey long sleeve other than “business in the front, party in the back”.

It’s unsuspecting, and an easy way to show off your favorite new bralette. I also plan on using this shirt to transition an outfit from the gym to elsewhere, while still allowing my sports bra to play peek-a-boo.

This last look that Jess shot featured the Tobi Isabella Bell Sleeve Top in Wine. This could be completely in my head, but I like to think that the voluminous bell sleeves balance out my curvaceous hips.

I believe this top would be good for a business casual look or for going to happy hour.. plus when I spill red wine on myself it would probably be less noticeable in a top with its namesake color! Two birds, one stone.

Although I don’t own them yet, I also have this Cute Blush Blouse and the Edie Wine Shirt on my Tobi wishlist… If this is your first time shopping with them you can get 50% off of your first order on regularly priced items, with some brand exclusions. All of the tops I wore during the art alley shoot retail for less than $50 on Tobi’s site, but with the “new member promotion” they would be even cheaper!

Check out Tobi, here! Which tops caught your eye?

Things to do in Buffalo -April

In April I found a lot of great things to do in Buffalo. There were a variety of fundraisers for wonderful causes as well as new restaurants to try. A key part of this whole revitalization in the city includes the organizations that are making it all happen.. and seeing them operate up close is pretty neat.

I had the opportunity to get up closed and personal with Family and Child Services at “Fashion Show with a Twist” at Samuel’s Grande Manor in Williamsville on April 21st. Such a great experience!

The proceeds of the event went to support Haven House, Erie County’s only licensed domestic violence shelter. There were a variety of vendors present ranging from Mary Kay to LuLaroe as well as silent auctions and although I did not partake in the dinner, it looked delicious. This was the perfect opportunity to pick up some Mother’s Day gifts for mom as well as a few treats for yourself. There was a fashion show sponsored by Lord and Taylor at Walden Galleria, sporting all sorts of casual styles. Jess Lyons, blogger of Bows and Bouquets, attended this event with me.

The following evening I went to Statler City for the Unyts “Bucket List Bash” fundraiser with my friend Megan. It was so much fun and I don’t even think we got to do everything in the 3 hours we were there! The food was delicious. There were mini cupcakes courtesy of Baked -one of my favorites-, a mashed potato bar -SWOON-, pizza and wings -of course-, Wegman’s cheeses and spreads and delicious apps from the hotel. Can’t complain about an open bar with signature drinks in Unyts logo colors either 😉

When I wasn’t eating and drinking, you could find me spinning the roulette wheel, getting a ~henna~ tattoo and taking photos with local newscaster celebrities. This event was so much fun, I’m definitely going back next year.

The following week on April 28 I attended the Elle Blow Dry Bar and Niagara Distilling Company’s “Drink and Dry” event. This may or may not have been due to the delicious floral gin that I sampled at the bucket list bash.

Since I was flying out to Florida to visit Tess (my fantastic sidekick from my Disney trip last March!) the following day, getting a complimentary blow out seemed like even more of an incredible idea than usual. The Elle Blow Dry Bar team was up to the challenge of making my barrel curls stay over night. There were half priced cocktails, a Pure Romance vendor and plenty of chatty attendees. Jess, who went to the “Fashion Show with a Twist” with me, also attended this event. Check out her cute curls and baby bump :D!

When people complain about there being a lack of things to do in Buffalo, I am a firm believer that they are looking in the wrong places. In just 2 weeks I went to 3 fantastic events. Especially now that the weather is getting nicer there are a surplus of things to do in the Nickel City. What’s on your list for May?

She tucked her coral lipstick away and floated back to the party.

Morning sunshines!

Actually, its 4 in the afternoon.. I’m just so bright and cheery thanks to my adventure today that I had to start my introduction that way.

Why might I be gushing optimism and happiness?

I went to the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall today, and was given 4 generous hours to wander and drool over everything I could possibly want.

The result: A sheer blouse with rhinestones on it, a navy jacket for fall, socks for my sperry boat shoes, yogen fruz frozen yogurt, and A NEW KATE SPADE.

My first.

I feel like suchhhhh, a grown up. Even if it’s hot pink, it’s classy and practically costs an arm and a leg vs. my typical bag.

Not to diss vera..

I’m just on cloud 9 right now because this bag is me in a nut shell. From the duster bag that it came in, to the fact that it’s pink yet straight lines and classic design. I just feel it represents me so well.

Since it’s labor day weekend, the sales were HUGE.. and Kate thankfully wasn’t an exception. 50% off!!! My bag was 50% off.

I could never be so impulsive otherwise.

I’m supposed to be the poor college student after all.

Canisius is covered in Michael Kors and Coach; but  I’ll be so proud to flaunt this kate spade. Words can barely describe.

Psst: The title was the quote on my duster bag. Like how much cuter can you get?!
