Clementine the cat and the things I will do for nailpolish freedom

Friends, foes, and fellow readers:

It’s been a while.  I wish I could say I’ve been busy, but I don’t lie in my blogs.  Between Netflix, having only 1 Community College Finals (note, I specifically put in the type of final.. because it’ll be THAT easy), and this beautiful weather, I’ve been gliding through life.  It’s amazing how happy and positive you can feel just because of a little sunshine.  That sunshine brings out little flowers and lots on animals.  Instead of picking flowers though, I brought home an animal…

I am the proud momma of Clementine Deutschman.  Clementine is a beautiful orange fluffball that like kitten chow and small bowls of milk.  When he isn’t sleeping or being harassed by my siblings, Clementine can be found hissing at my other cat Tangerine (get the names now? Yeah, I’m creative!) or visiting the vet due to his many ailments.

$150 dollars later, I have found out that like many mothers I underestimated the cost of my child.  Talk about a money sucking black hole.

A very cute money sucking black hole though.

And once you find out that additional costs are accruing, it would only be practical to quit your job.. right?

Welp.  That’s what I did!  I’ve enjoyed my time at Coach, but would like a little freedom for the summer.. and I would like to get away from handbags (unless I’m buying them myself).  I’m not living off of mommy and daddy though, I have to be able to eventually afford Manhattan after all: I got a new job!

*round of applause, fire works, those obnoxious whistles you hear at sporting events*

I will be waitressing on weekends at the Youngstown Yacht Club.

The hours are less, but the pay is better and it’s uncharted territory.  I’m excited to take a risk and get belittled by people over food instead of handbags.

LOL.

But seriously, I know what I’m in for.  I just want a change of scenery and Coach wouldn’t cooperate with working at both the Yacht Club and there.  I hope it’s everything I want it to be..  Khakis and a polo are the proper attire, it’s certainly preppy enough.

And I’ll be meeting A LOT of people over filet mignon, just maybe not the way I expected to.

I also applied for weekday jobs and a few ice cream places, but that’s just because I know I’m going to be bored eventually.

And also for my sanity once the kids come home for the summer.

I could just get a hobby, find a blogging club.. buy a cute little pink bike to ride around the neighborhood.  Something.

But how fantastic is it that I will finally have time to breath, stop constantly working (both with school and a job), and paint my finger nails whatever color I want?

I knew I wouldn’t last long with Coach’s nail polish communism.

Their loss.

Ew. Swimsuit Season already?

There are few things I hate more in this world than swimsuit shopping.  Waiting for a video to buffer is irritating, seeing your favorite limited edition Starbucks drink gone from the menu is disappointing, and knowing that Coach will never allow you to wear your brand new emerald green nail polish to work is gut wrenching, but nothing gives you that feeling like swimsuit season.

As I lay in bed thinking about that Cinnabon cinnamon roll I ate earlier, with the calorie count to satisfy a small village, swim suit season guilt overwhelms me.  If you have never experienced that feeling or if you have never bought a one piece, swim skirt, or swim shorts (forget the chubby 5 year old stage, I’m talking in the last 10 years) this blog post is not for you.  Buh-bye.

Who cares about bikinis in March? Welp, I booked tickets for my vacation to Florida April first through the fifth and I do.  I was planning on biking down the beach with my friend Ashley and spending hours upon hours tanning in the sun instead of that tin can of UV rays I recently  bought a membership to.  I glanced out the window at the remains of gross New York snow banks and started to think about what I would wear.  I should probably plan my outfits for my trip to Manhattan this weekend first, but Cinnabon Cinnamon Buns don’t show quite as much through dresses.

I remember all the Mac and Cheese and Mozzerella Sticks I ate first semester and all of the leggings I’ve worn since.  I recall all the bitches on Twitter back in January being all

“Oh my God! Just ordered 3 new bikinis from Victoria’s Secret! #summer2013 hollaaaaa”

And I unfollowed every last one of you.

I did lose 12 pounds, but that was after the freshman weight gain made an appearance.  In other words, I am no better off than I was last summer.  Actually, that’s a lie.  I am one Cinnabon Cinnamon Bun greater than I was before.

But you try and resist Cream Cheese Frosting after a 9 hour work day.  I didn’t think so.

So, according to society I should be writing a post committing myself to losing weight by April first and yada yada, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.  I think it is much more likely that I will buy another Coach bag (I’m on my second in 2 months, darlings..).

*This is the latest, her name is Isabelle.

I’m just going to try not to give Isabelle too many friends between now and April and instead find some figure flattering swim suits PRONTO.

*but doesn’t this bag look like such a better investment than waterproof spandex?

I almost bought her with Isabelle, but sold her.  She’s in a better (more wealthy) place now.

Now that I’ve pulled myself off the Coach website I’m on Modcloth.  I’m pretty sure it will be my go to site for this dreaded season.  The only danger is, I can’t try on the suit and reject it once I get it and everything looks good if there’s a size 2 model wearing it on the site.

So my fellow Pear shapers, I hope this helps you out.  If not, steer me in the right direction? I’m begging you!

So far… this is the list:

The safe option. The issue is, there is a fine line between vintage and frumpy:

The “If I’m feeling adventurous” option:

The “wild taylor swift-esque” option:

The “color of my bedroom walls” option:

I haven’t bought any and will probably put it off as long as humanly possible.. so if you can help me and submit a comment, that’d be fab.  Remember, I blog at ridiculous hours of the night, so if any of these are horrendous, we will just blame that.

Anyways, what do you think my Cinna-buns should dawn on the beach in April?

Blog sophistication

Sometimes, as I drool over other people’s very decadent blogs I realize what mine may lack. Today.. I decided it was sophistication.

Therefore, I came to the conclusion that clearingpreppysname’s page theme should be different.

I’m entering a new time of my life, one unlike the frivolous high school days that have passed. The light pink bubbly background was perfect for then, but shouldn’t my blog reflect these life changes?!

Burgandy is such a gorgeous fall color that just oozes elegance and sophistication in my humble opinion.

What’s your opinion of the new blog set up? The color tones? I’m still figuring it out. Feedback is great! Along with the new set up though, I also added a badge from Fashion Parkway Online Magazine. You can find it at the bottom of the home page :).

This is where you come in… I need your help. I’m part of a blog hop, and there is a list.

AHHH! The pressure :O!!

The list ranks popularity of the Fashion Parkway bloggers according to the Alexa traffic bar. My personal blog? It’s lagging. Yesterday, I ranked 2nd on the list. Today I’m ranking 15th. I want the lowest score possible.

So….

TELL YOUR WIFE, TELL YOUR KIDS..

(a play on hide your wife, hide your kids…)

okay, that’s a bad joke.

But spread the word to everybody and anybody about http://www.clearingpreppysname.wordpress.com!

It obviously can’t survive without you!

And its author, yours truly, is expanding her online locations because of the recent success! Writing for Fashion Parkway Online Magazine has been a great way for me to meet new bloggers and expand my horizons. Why stop there?

I’ve found Image 34! Another online magazine, this time based out of the UK! I’m going to writing fashion segments for them starting in September. This new phase of my life should inspire new styles and new reasons to gush about all things fashionable.

Once I’m away from a town with a population of 5,000 I really think it would be hard not to find inspiration.

Today’s finger nail polish inspired my blog change. The possibilities are endless!

The question is.. now that my finger nail polish has been so life changing, what colors should I paint my toes?!
