A new reason to visit Niagara Falls: Francesca’s Collections! Opening February 21st

Although many news reports indicate that throughout the United States this past winter has been fairly mild in comparison to previous ones, in Western New York we have dealt with our fair share of frozen days. It can be difficult to look chic and dainty, bundled up in many layers, just striving to keep out the cold. With a windchill temp of -25 tomorrow, I know I long for my sweatpants and to stay in bed with a steamy cup of tea seemingly everyday, but that way of life can’t last weeks. Snag some last minute winter sales inside some nice warm stores or in the comfort of your home online, focusing on the fact that at least it isn’t swim suit season yet!! With spring break just around the corner and new lines of clothing entering stores, it is time to mentally prepare for the warmer days ahead.

In Niagara Falls at the fashion outlets, Francesca’s Collections is holding their grand opening February 21st. I’ve checked out their online inventory and hope to see some of my favorites in our new local store! I love the feel of Francesca’s because it seems like a boutique rather than a chain store and although preppy style is classic and readily imitated, I still strive for individuality. At Francesca’s they have a great selection of whimsical accessories and feminine clothing to transform the clothing options you already have.

This Nautical Anchor Print Scarf is a great seasonal transitional piece. With an oversized sweater or sleeveless blouse, it’s preppy and practical.

I am a sucker for a midi skirt. It is a popular trend right now, yet iconically vintage. Last summer, during my pre-study abroad days, when I was a little more frivolous with my money, I found a very similar skirt to the High Waisted Lace Inset Midi, minus the lace inset, from Express that I fell in love with. It was the $80 price tag however, that forced me to return it. I am happy to say that I found another lower cost, bright and bubbly option from Francescas. Introducing… the Carlyss Solid Midi!

Scalloped edging in a prep’s wardrobe is almost essential. I have a shift and crop top that convey very different looks with a scallop detail, yet are both classy. I love the scallop cut out on these suede Chinese Laundry heels. I can’t wait for the day when I will be able to wear shoes without considering if they are “snow bank friendly” each day.

I may not have selected the Quinn Crewneck Pullover Sweater if they hadn’t styled it so fabulously on the Francesca’s website. The way it is classically placed atop a chambray button down and patterned skirt is timeless yet quirky. A perfect combo. Plus during the aforementioned chilly weather, layers are essential!

Pending my work schedule (new job! woo!), I will make sure to be in attendance at Francesca’s opening day in Niagara Falls. I hope you will too.
