On September 7th (also known as my birthday!!), I attended the Boulevard Mall Fashion Show. It may not have been New York Fashion Week, but it was a great opportunity to see some of the up and coming trends for fall in Buffalo. I loved that the show not only targeted women, but men and children too! There were 14 stores participating, and they catered to a wide variety of audience members: from Hot Topic lovers to Victoria’s Secret angels. There will be a second fashion show in February 2014, and I definitely recommend attending.
Some of my favorite trends were sported by the little girls at Gap Kids. Knee socks, blazers, and headbands were seen multiple times! You can’t get much preppier than that. How I wish I could fit into a little girls size..
The models ranged from store employees to those trained by Susan Makai’s Personal Best. This agency also had models at the Wedding Expo I attended a few weeks ago.
I was impressed by how Gap transitioned this maxi dress from summer to fall. I would suggest throwing an oversized sweater belted on top if you were to shed the denim jacket. This is such an easy look, and very popular on the UB college campus.
If you are on a job hunt, JCPenney is ready to help you look professional and put together in time for your next interview. I recommend stopping by Macy’s for some patterned tights to give a little personality to your look!
What about something a little more sexy? With the holidays right around the corner, snag this perfect Christmas dress. If I had the body to rock this look, I totally would. Throw on a blazer and pearls to make the outfit a bit more conservative, and then shed layers for after work drinks.
A huge thanks to Crazy 8, Gymboree, Tu Tu Boutique, Gap Kids, Gap, The Limited, Francesca’s Collections, H&M, JCPenney, Hot Topic, Victoria’s Secret, Christopher & Banks, Macy’s, TTNY, and Tuxedo Junction for supplying such great looks.
I had the chance to talk to Liz, the Director of Macy’s at the Boulevard Mall, who played a key role in the success of this past weekend’s show. She filled me in on some of the trends to watch for in Macy’s this fall:
1) Leather!! Real and faux. You can look forward to finding some real eye-catching jackets, buttery tote bags, and faux leather patches on pants in Macy’s this fall.
2) Plaid. I hope all of my fellow preps just cheered! Plaid is an oldy, but a goody. Cher Horowitz would be thrilled!
3) The Alfani Line. In October, Macy’s will be holding their own Fashion Show. Their Alfani line is going to be targeting different sizes and releasing some brand new looks. More details are to come.
What trends are you looking forward to this fall?
