I’ve never been really into zebra or cheetah print. In high school I knew a bunch of girls that were DEB, Rue 21, and club-wear obsessed… They were always wearing those patterns, therefore they now look cheap to me. If you are looking for a tasteful preppy “animal print” (Yes, it’s possible!) then check out some of these other ideas:
1. Lobster
Jcrew Factory Intarsia Charley Sweater In Lobster
I’m honestly so depressed that this sweater is sold out. It was a steal at $40.00 before the 40% coupon, so I can’t say I’m surprised.
2. Elephant
Banana Republic & Milly Elephant Print Shorts
Olivia Palermo rocked these shorts, and you can too! They’re simplistic yet statement making. Sadly, another item that flew off the shelves though, they are currently unavailable.
3. Crab
Lilly Pulitzer Winnfield Dress
I feel like this dress is perfect for a summer time wedding. The detailing includes shells, crabs, sand dollars, and the prettiest sea weed I’ve ever seen! Buy it here before it’s gone.
4. Whale
Vineyard Vines Whale Embroidered Dayboat Shorts
One of the signature preppy animals has to be the Vineyard Vines Whale. Another reason to love these shorts is because of the 3.5 inch inseam, they’re a great length. They come in green, pink, white, and navy on the VV website or try Ebay or the Poshmark app for a better deal!
5. Coral
Kiel James Patrick Ellen Coral Garden Bag
I love the combination of rope with brown leather for the strap of this bag. There is no doubt it’s nautical and perfect for summer. The crossbody style is great to grab and go. Click here for a clearer image on the site.
What animal prints are your favorite?
Those are cute. I feel you zebra or cheetah print. Zebra reminds of 13 year olds and cheetah makes me think of Desperate Housewifes.
any print or fabric that’s poorly constructed looks cheap. i’m an animal print lover…cheetah especially!
I couldn’t agree more! Maybe this is less of a pattern issue and more of a material one.
