Pretty in Pink Lipstick

I am a lover of all things pink.  There’s no doubt about what my favorite color is: I’ve layered my bedside table in glittery pink scrapbook paper, the monogram on my wall beside it is pink, and my favorite Kate Spade bag is undoubtedly pink.  When I walked into Ulta Beauty today, I decided to expand my already extensive pink lipstick collection with NYX Narcissus 509, one of the lightest yet brightest pink lipsticks I’ve ever seen.

When I choose a lipstick I always look for pigment and moisture.  Bright hues draw me in and attract a great deal of attention.  It is important that the attention brought to your lips is not focused on chapped skin and flaking though.  I have consistently been impressed with the consistency and color of NYX lipsticks.  I am even more thrilled by the $5< price tag.  I would also recommend trying the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean 601 and NYX Liquid Crystal Liner in Crystal Onyx 102.  I layered the Almay Liquid Liner in Black 221 under the Crystal Onyx for a more intense smokey eye.

Despite my lack of Friday night plans, the new lip color inspired me to “doll up” the rest of my face -in preparation for a Gilmore Girls marathon.  I used a Rimmel London Stay Matte liquid mousse foundation in True Ivory from my #univoxbox I received courtesy of  Influenster.  I find it incredibly impressive how much coverage this drug store cosmetic has, considering I have spend nearly $50 on a bottle of Clinique foundation with similar results.

On top of the liquid foundation, I applied a layer of SHINE FREE loose powder by Maybelline New York in Medium 02 with a Bare Minerals brush.  This “five minute face” has a bit of drama, despite the innocent pink lip tint.  How else would you compliment  your facial canvas, with a light pink lip?
